Night Watch

NightWatch

Tonight I ate pizza and watched a really interesting russian film called Night Watch. Emitt wanted to do his laundry but didn’t want to go to a hot, stinky, creepy laundromat so he asked if he could come over and do a few loads in my washer and dryer. Being the nice person I am, and also wanting to make sure he didn’t smell bad I let him do so.

It took us about half an hour to figure out where/what we wanted to eat.. we’re both very decisive when it comes to food - we know what we DON’T want.

So we finally settled on the mediterranean restaurant close to my house. On the way out the door I saw a flyer for Cosmic Pizza and decided that it sounded better… so we got a pizza then hit up Safeway for some beverages because I was plum out of Diet Coke. While in the grocery store I saw about 10 beautiful men that I wanted to marry, so I think I’m gonna be shopping there a lot soon (plus its very close to where Jeremy and I will be moving too in September). Emitt pulled a fat girl and bought some Strawberries & Cream icecream that was ridiculously creamy.

Now about Night Watch. It is one of those fantasy films that deals with vampires, shape-shifters and a group of people called The Others. The premise of the movie is the battle between Light and Dark and all the kinds of shenanigans that you would expect from a movie with vampires and people who can change form. What makes the movie even more delightful is that it isn’t full of the normal crap that comes out of hollywood with cheesy vampire movies. Well, it at least seems that way since the movie is in Russian I couldn’t pick up any cheese euro-trash accents :)

This is the first of three movies planned and I can’t wait to see what comes out next!

[...] So, these last few months have been rather apocalyptical for me.  First was the paper on Medieval apocalypses, you know - the book of revelation.  The first book I read over break was Night Watch (I wrote about it last summer when I watched the movie).  Its mildly apocalyptic, dealing mostly with the destructions of Moscow.  Then I read World War Z which is a very fun book about  those who survived the Zombie Wars.  Very entertaining, and quite an interesting commentary on our current body politic.
