This land is very strange. We put up Christmas decorations right after Halloween, because that’s when they start selling them at Target. Apparently presidential politics is run the same way - assuming the sooner you get your product on the shelves the sooner Americans are going to buy your message and ignore any one else.
And so with that, Obama, Clinton and now Brownback are announcing presidential campaigns. Nothing frightens me more than Sam Brownback running for president, especially if the field is against Obama and Clinton - mostly because I don’t think this nation is mature enough to confront its racist and sexist tendencies and would disregard the fact that Brownback is the spawn of all that is evil and hateful in the world (I should now, as we’re both from Kansas), and elect him only on the basis of his whiteness and his maleness. Brownback is dangerous, and it scares me that he’s running.
