Hell week started the evening of Saturday, August 18th when my clutch decided to experience malfunction whilst I was on the way to fetch one of my Beta Brothers. Sunday was even worse, with hours upon hours of pedantic and rather repetitive meetings between two of which my clutch went from fussy to dead.
Classes, on the other hand, were the exception. Purchasing supplies didn’t happen until I got the MINI towed and was able to get a rental. Thursday and today were the major suck. Thursday morning I drove down to The Paper Studio to get some book cloth, paper and miscellaneous supplies for an in-class project only to discover AFTER I had driven the entire way that I left my wallet at home. So back to the apartment I go, which left me with just enough time to drive to Utrecht and get some stuff and park at the Fulton Center. Utrecht didn’t have all the things I needed, and, naturally, the Fulton Center parking garage was closed to visitor (a/k/a students willing to pay $8) parking. So then I had to drive home and figure out a way to get all these supplies to campus on my bike. It was hot, items were bulky, in short it sucked and I hated it. Fortunately the professor was understanding and totally cool with the idea I had for my journal. The second class that day was cancelled because the professor broke his foot and had surgery the day before.
Today was another one of those BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH days. I wanted to get a new portable hard-drive for my Digital Photo class, so I decided I would go to the Apple store to see if they had items in stock rather than order it online. I get there and they do not. Anger. Not a total loss, as I also needed a phone charger - so I go to the AT&T store on the other side of the freeway to get one and they’re like “Oh, we just sold out of those…” FUCK. So then I drive to the new Best-Buy at Tempe Marketplace to check out their selection of portable hard-drives and I get asked by 100 different people if I need help with anything and I ignore most of them until I actually need help - so then when the 101st person to ask me if I need help finding anything asks me if I need help, I say “Yes, can you please direct me to where you have portable hard drives?”. He asks me “for what system?” - which confused me for a moment until I realized I was in Game Console land, so to clarify I told him “Oh, I just need a firewire hard drive for my computer” and he gets one of those “Oh, okay” looks on his face and proceeds to take me to the aisle where they have all the Norton Anti-Virus and system utilities and says “Oh, I don’t think we have anything that is just a firewall..” I roll my eyes and thank him anyway. Fucktard.
So I leave Tempe Marketplace behind and head to a place called “Wireless Toyz” because I’m certain no AT&T store is going to have a charger for my phone, and because it is also 1/4 of a block from where my next destination is… They had a phone charger! Amazing! First time on the entire trip any of the stores had anything I wanted! Yay!! Things were looking up until I pulled into the parking lot to The Paper Studio at 3:15 only to discover that they closed at 3pm because they’re still on summer hours (uh, schools started bitches). So I was 15 minutes too late. If I add up the time I spent in all the stores I went to and wasn’t able to find a single-fucking-thing on my list, and subtract, I could have been there 15 minutes BEFORE they closed.
So now I’m at home drinking vodka and diet &-Up. It’s after 5 for most of the country.
Hopefully next week is better.
