I may be the last person to have caught on to this, but mixing ice tea and lemonade/limeade is quite tasty. I tried it last night mixing from fresh limeade and some ice tea.. I’d never wanted to commit buying a ready-made product for fear I wouldn’t like it. But I fear no more.

Cracker Barrel

Eats, Gay, gay, gay, KangaBlabba, Shenanigins 1 Comment »

OK so on my recent trip from Detroit to Phoenix, the Asian wife and I had dinner at a Cracker Barrel.  Now I know to many of you, especially the gays, this is a crime.  In 1991 Cracker Barrel fired 11 gay employees after some small minded hick customer complained about some gays that worked there.  Many were shocked.  Boycotts by the gays and their allies ensued and bad press swirled about.  Many public companies really don’t like bad press.

After a share-holder referendum the following Equal Opportunity Statement became policy at all Cracker Barrel stores:

Employment opportunities at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. are open to all qualified applicants solely on the basis of their job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Qualified applicants are considered for all open positions for which they apply and for advancement without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, age, marital status, or the presence of a medical condition or disability. Cracker Barrel complies with all applicable federal, state and local laws with regard to equal employment opportunity. Advancement is based entirely on an individual’s demonstrated performance, job-related ability, skills, and knowledge and the resulting potential for promotion to the job openings applied for. Cracker Barrel will not tolerate any form of discrimination, harassment or retaliation affecting its employees or applicants due to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, age, marital status, medical condition, or disability.

If you don’t believe me you can read the Cracker Barrel Equal Opportunity Statement yourself.

Simply stated: if you continue to not eat at Cracker Barrel because you think they don’t like the gays, you are hurting the share holders who supported and implemented the above equal opportunity statement.

So those of you that TRIED to make me feel bad can take the bad-gay-guilt you attempted to put on me (for enjoying some tasty Cracker Barrel) and shove it up your well-intentioned asses ;)

Multitasking

You know, one of the nice things about computers is that we can multitask.

This evening I was doing some multitasking and now my keyboard is covered with oil.

NO NOT THAT KIND OF OIL FOR THAT KIND OF MULTITASKING.

Perverts.

Basic Curried Rice:

1 yellow onion, small, diced 2-3 cloves garlic, crushed & chopped 1 cup of frozen peas Olive Oil Tumeric Cumin Cayenne Freshly cooked Jasmine Rice 1 can-o-veggie stock Kosher salt Cook the onion, garlic and peas in the olive oil with a dash of salt until the onion is translucent and the peas are mostly done. Add your tumeric, cumin and cayenne until well mixed. Toss in your rice and pour in about 3/4 of the can of stock to keep everything nice and moistalicious.

Scoop into a bowl, drizzle with some nice olive oil and sea salt. Enjoy.

Yummy Garlic Pasta

I made this tonight and it was soooo yummy I decided to post the recipe!

Yummy Garlic Pasta

1/2 Box whole-wheat linguine (6-7oz. dry) 3-6 Cloves garlic, crushed & chopped (or more to taste) 2 Tbs Extra Virgin Olive Oil 1 Tbs unsalted butter, chopped 1 Tbs balsamic vinegar Italian seasoning (to taste) Crushed red pepper flakes (to taste) 1 Tbs capers

Optional: 1 tbs chopped italian parsley

Preparation:

In a large pot boil 3-4 quarts of salted water. While waiting for the water to boil, crush and finely chop your garlic and add it to a medium sized non-metallic bowl. Into the same bowl add your extra virgin olive oil, chopped butter, balsamic vinegar, capers, seasonings and optional parsley. Add 1-2 tablespoons of the boiling pasta water into the bowl while the pasta is cooking and mix ingredients thoroughly (this helps melt the butter down a bit, and gives the sauce some extra body).

After the pasta is finished cooking (I prefer al-dente) drain it and immediately add it to the bowl containing the other ingredients. Be sure to mix throughly and enjoy the yummy smells!

This dish will taste great hot or cold. It should serve 1-2 people as a main, especially if you top it with a marinated grilled chicken breast and have another side dish to go with it.
