I haven’t been very active in this years campaigning and debating as much as I have in the past because I was tired of it halfway through last year. But I have to say, after watching this clip, that Hillary Clinton is a feisty lady and pretty much just bitch-slapped Barak off the stage. You HAVE to watch to the end of it then its like BAM
I think its a clear strategy of the Obama campaign to distract people from Hilary’s ideas by constantly bringing up her husband. I think its a little belittling to her as a Woman. That isn’t to say that she isn’t also doing the same thing about Obama and his perceived minority status, I just haven’t personally witnessed that happen yet.
These are some of the images that I used in my ‘Wide Stance’ project - poking fun of and exploiting/exploring the issues brought up when Senator Craig of Idaho got busted for soliciting sex in a men’s restroom at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport. There’s a whole lot about the story, so Google it or check it out on Wikipedia..
But he claimed he wasn’t soliciting sex after all, and that his toe-tapping was actually because of his ‘Wide Stance’ thus began the project…

According to CNN (which means this is of dubious and highly speculative nature anyway) “Sen. Sam Brownback will end his bid for the presidential nomination on Friday, two sources close to the Kansas Republican tell The Associated Press.”
Thank the goddess. He was always a long-shot, since he’s only slightly more liberal than Fred Phelps. This will also keep Kansas out of the news, which is a good thing too - the less Kansas is on the minds of the people the fewer jokes about wheat, flatness and the fucking wizard of oz I’ll have to hear.
Today I had another amazing opportunity, courtesy of my experience at ASU. I watched Al Gore give his Inconvenient Truth presentation at Gammage Auditorium on the ASU campus. Before the presentation I was at the VIP reception (a benefit of being a fraternity brother with the person who coordinated the entire thing - thanks Jimmy!) and was about 40ft away from the former Vice President when he spoke to us before his presentation.
Its really amazing that within the last 5 months I have seen two men who are my political heroes: Bill Clinton and now Al Gore. If you haven’t seen An Inconvenient Truth I highly suggest that you take a look at it. I already knew a lot about what VP Gore had in his presentation, but I also learned a few new things. Al Gore is fucking hilarious in person - something that I don’t think many people picked up on when he was a candidate. He was making jokes about himself and the current administration that had the entire house laughing!
I’m really glad I came to ASU because I have had so many opportunities here that I’d never have been able to enjoy back in KC. Yay!
This land is very strange. We put up Christmas decorations right after Halloween, because that’s when they start selling them at Target. Apparently presidential politics is run the same way - assuming the sooner you get your product on the shelves the sooner Americans are going to buy your message and ignore any one else.
And so with that, Obama, Clinton and now Brownback are announcing presidential campaigns. Nothing frightens me more than Sam Brownback running for president, especially if the field is against Obama and Clinton - mostly because I don’t think this nation is mature enough to confront its racist and sexist tendencies and would disregard the fact that Brownback is the spawn of all that is evil and hateful in the world (I should now, as we’re both from Kansas), and elect him only on the basis of his whiteness and his maleness.
Brownback is dangerous, and it scares me that he’s running.

Voters in the historically conservative state of Arizona have become the first in the nation to reject a ballot measure banning same-sex marriage.
Twenty-seven other states have approved anti-gay marriage ballot measures, including seven on Tuesday. But by 51 percent to 49 percent, Arizonans voted down Proposition 107, which would have amended the state’s Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.
The deciding aspect may have been the broad reach of the measure.
Same-sex marriage already was illegal under state law, but not as part of the Constitution. Proposition 107 would have barred government entities - such as the state, cities, counties, universities and school districts - from recognizing any relationship similar to marriage, such as civil unions or domestic partnerships, in providing benefits to their employees.
This is such wonderful news - I voted against a similar measure when I was still living in Kansas and I’m glad to be in the first state in the Union to reject such a proposition. w00!!
But the work isn’t done kids - just because the Dem’s have the house and may tie with the senate doesn’t mean things automatically get better. There’s still lots of shit to do as far as US Foreign Policy, Tax Cuts, Health Care, etc.
I can’t go without commenting about this news item generated from my homeland. Apparently some Bed-and-Breakfast in small town Kansas has been flying a rainbow flag in front of their establishment completely oblivious to its gay & lesbian community meaning:
Knight says the local Meade newspaper is trying to put him out of business and was frustrated when it ran an article about the flag and did not even bother to contact him regarding why he put it up. In fact, most people we spoke to in Meade said they didn’t even know what the flag meant until the article ran. But once word got around, the reaction was harsh.
Knight says the radio station has called him threatening to remove the restaurant’s commercials if he does not remove the flag. A local pastor stopped by said it was equivalent to hanging women’s panties on a flag pole. When Knight jokingly said he might consider that – the preacher said he would have him arrested.
sigh I’m so glad that I don’t live in KS any more, especially after a local red-neck equated gays to Nazi’s (comparing anything to a Nazi is, in my book, a last ditch effort that shows you know nothing of the subject to which you are speaking)
Local resident, Keith Klassen says the flag is a slap in the face to the conservative community of Meade. “To me it’s just like running up a Nazi flag in a Jewish neighborhood. I can’t walk into that establishment with that flag flying because to me that’s saying that I support what the flag stands for and I don’t,” says Klassen.
Until an actual declaration of war from a recognized government appears this is going to be the ONLY thing I will post that illustrates my opinion on why our current presidents foreign policy is failing us miserably:
And we wonder why the rest of the world hates the United States of America.

Dear Readers,
As all four of you know, I am nearing the completion of my degree at ASU - and life is shifting into a different phase. As such, I am transitioning from the kangamini.com blog to a new style of blogging, focusing more on my photography rather than the every-day ramblings of a mad man / crazy-cat-lady. Please visit me at my new internet home richardleaf.com.
