Ok, so this is REALLY nerdy. But its ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so good. Make sure you watch it all the way through - there is a brilliant bit about cat-yodeling.

Kitten Update #11

Cat Pride, Shenanigins 1 Comment »

The brats will be 90 days old on April 12th. I hauled Victoria and Lizzy to the vet today for shots - can you believe that the vets here want THREE HUNDRED SEVENTY DOLLARS to spay EACH kitty?? I find that unbelievable. My mom just paid $75 to get one of her cats spayed. Seriously. I’m thinking about driving to Kentucky with the girls to get them spayed there - it would be cheaper to spend the gas money driving there and back!

Victoria did NOT enjoy her shot. The vet wasn’t holding her down enough and she moved, and I’m pretty certain that the needle did more than just skin - and as I recall from my own personal experience when the Dr. had to drain fluid from my stomach after my tummy tuck years ago and accidentally knicked my abdominal muscles. Victoria had the same reaction I did, which is to say there was a lot of hissing, spitting and tension. They also gave the ladies feline leukemia shots with a weird hypospray gadget. No needles involved on this one, but after a slightly delayed reaction Victoria jumped about three feet straight up in the air! Good thing the vet was holding her or I would have had a cat landing on my head!

Last night, Tonight and future nights!

Oh my goodness! Tonight Season 4 of Battlestar Galactica airs.. I cannot tell you HOW EXCITED I AM about this!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight is also the ASU Photographers’ Society Art Auction at First Gallery in Phoenix between McKinley and Filmore on 1st ave! I don’t have anything in it because I am good at making excuses and not finding time to work on things with short notice deadlines. Moo.

Last night was the opening for the show I am in, and it was amazing! My pieces were placed very well in the show, and the napkins were displayed in such a way as I had not even conceived, but it was perfect! I’ll post pictures of the installation as soon as I remember to take my camera to school :)

Check out the blogs for it at: http://mosaicexhibit.blogspot.com/ and http://www.geocities.com/mosaicexhibition/homepage.html

Good News: Battlestar Galactica Season 3 DVD’s shipping today!

Sad News: Author and visionary Arthur C. Clark died today.

Good News: I got to hangout with a great friend I haven’t seen probably since last summer when he drove off to California.

Sad News: When I was unloading film from some pictures I took of said friend, I discovered that one of the film holders was already EMPTY. Hopefully I got one shot, cause he won’t be back for a while.

Scifi.com has a funny new summary video that’s about 8 minutes long that summarizes Battlestar Galactica from the beginning upto the end of the 3rd season. It sums up all the necessary details and includes a heavy amount of humor as well.

Car Problems make me That Guy

I dunno WTF my MINI is playing at. Last night as I was walking to my car after watching a movie, I heard a noise coming from near my car - I didn’t know if it was my car or someone elses since I was in a parking lot… After driving home and exiting my car, I was pretty much 100% sure that it was my car, because said mystery noise could still be heard. After a few minutes of poking around I narrowed the problem down to the power steering pump.

You see its like this - MINI engineered the car to have an electric power steering pump so that it wouldn’t take power from the engine. Good idea - except mine decided to not turn off when the car was turned off. I could tell that it was draining my battery since - duh- it is a big hydraulic pump working when then alternator isn’t re-charging the car.

So last night I woke up ONCE hearing my car alarm going off. This wasn’t a big deal to me since car alarms go off here all the time, and it was quiet by the time my brain realized it was my car.. Not the case at about 6:50am (ugh). The MINI alarm is the Death Sound of the MINI’s battery - it went off in 30-40 second bursts for about five minutes sucking the last little bit of life from the battery. Nothing would let me turn the damn thing off either.. clicking the clicker, unlocking the driver door physically.. And since the locks to the rest of the car are electrical I couldn’t open the rear-hatch to disconnect the mostly-dead battery either. (Yes, my car’s battery is in the boot). Not having anything else left to do, I grabbed the owners manual and went up to my apartment to try and find a number to call. But before that could happen, she fell (hopefully permanently) silent.

I really really am not looking forward to paying for this.

Going Problems

Cat Pride, Shenanigins Add a comment »

You know that commercial where there are anthropomorphized pipe-people and they talk about how you have ‘leaky pipes’ and that its a ‘going problem’? Well, the kitties all have going problems.

Mr. B has a urinary tract infection and had to make an unscheduled visit to the veterinarian today.. he’s OK now but needs to be on antibiotics for two weeks.

On the other side of the equation is the kittens. Their going problem is that they just kinda stop and go when the urge strikes them. Twice on my bed, and twice on my floor, that I’ve observed. Even after putting out lots of little tiny kitten-sized litter pans, they still have no manners. So this evening I invested in a kitty-gate and locked them into the kitchen after kitten-proofing the cabinets (hopefully). They’re not allowed out until they have proper manners.

Lizzy doesn’t seem to be too terribly upset over the location change either. She’s kinda lounging just on the other side of the kitten gate. But this is about the right time to start the weaning process anyway so she’s probably slightly relieved :)

You know what else is feeling relieved? My wallet.

It has finally happened. The kittens have learned how to climb onto my bed.

Peace shall reign no longer.
