Winter Breaking

YAY. I haven’t had to do a single thing for FIVE WHOLE DAYS now. Its amazing.

Of course, those five days were interrupted with the new neighbors. Gone are the middle-eastern-smells-like-hookah-bar neighbors - in there place are fresh-out-of-the-dorm children who have no concept of how loud they are. Five nights in a row the music was soo loud that I literally could not escape it even if I went into my bedroom (farthest from the common wall) and closed the door.

calls in noise complaint

I actually heard the management knock on her door and tell her there was a noise complaint. Made me feel all warm and squishy inside!

Elizabeth is almost certainly pregnant. At least, that’s according to my Internet diagnostics. Best guess is she’s gonna pop dem babies out during the first two weeks of January. I think I might send one to Kentucky as a birthday present to my dad… Both kids have a Dr. appointment on Thursday - hopefully I will receive final confirmation of baby-on-board-ness as well as an expected squirting-out date.

Grades were yummy this semester too: 3 A’s and one A+ w00t

I still have many things to do before I leave on Saturday. sigh

Week End Update

Getting Old: I survived my 30th birthday! My fraternity brothers and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings and we had delicious hot-wings to celebrate. My mom sent me a crazy card that read something like “Oh, if only I could be 30 again - wait - I was unemployed and pregnant” which nearly made me drive off the road I was laughing so hard. But I regained control because I didn’t want to make the news as one of those senile old men that drives into a crowded market and kills half-a-dozen people.

Travel/Shenanigans: So today we’re going to California… to SoCal to Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Disney this weekend.. I’m driving someone else’s car and there are five of us… I hope I can survive :) This will be my first trip to California - granted I’m going to be in LA which most people just kinda roll their eyes about - but whatever - its one more state I can add to my list of places visited. Several of my classmates told me I should visit the San Francisco-and-north region of the state, which is fine and dandy but that isn’t the goal of this weekend :) I think I’ll just get a job this spring and buy a motorcycle and tour the west this summer with a tent and my camera. THAT would be awesome.

Travel: I got my passport back already today - one full week’s turn-around time - I think that’s pretty impressive.

School: I sought the advice of the sages, and they pretty much agreed with what I want to do: Drop the Interdisciplinary Studies BIS degree and just focus on the Photography BFA degree. I can still do a sociology minor, but this clears the way for me to graduate on time which at this point is a major goal. It also frees up my schedule a bit to focus more on art classes and opens the way for me to find an internship/job next year during my (final) senior year at ASU. w00t.

Battlestar Cracklactica: SciFi channel is advertising a lot for their new Battlestar Galactica mini-series which means one thing: its coming in December. They’re advertising it so heavily that I hope they don’t OVER hype it.. but who am I kidding - I’ll love it even if its ridiculous.

ZOMBIES: Speaking of ridiculous - on Monday some of the brothers and pledges went to go see Resident Evil: Extinction. Amazing Zombie movie. Plus, as in all her other films, you get to see Milla Jovovich’s ta-ta’s.

Swinging London is on!

Friday was the big “make the commitment” day for me on the London trip. I paid the application fee, sent my passport renewal in and enrolled in the winter inter-session class for it. Plane tickets are on hold for me so I’m pretty stoked! British Airways has a direct flight from Phoenix to London and back which is amazing to me. I’m not going to book my flights until I’m sure I can go though. No sense in spending that kinda money :)

My birthday is in 2 days. I sent mom flowers on Saturday since she was having a party and I wanted her to show them off to her friends :)

Possible Trip to London!

I got an email about a study abroad program that sends me to the UK for three weeks, and - get this - requires me to take pictures for credit. Amazing, right?!?!

So I’m trying to figure out how to get all this taken care of.

I have to get a new passport too since I’m old enough to have had one expire already :|

Speaking of OLD - 7 days till the big Three-Oh

Yoiks!

An old abandoned store on Winchester Road aka US-60. Interesting fact about road names in Kentucky: They name the road depending on the way you’re going. If you’re on US-60 driving east from Mt. Sterling, its called Winchester Road. If you’re on US-60 driving west from Winchester, it is called Mt. Sterling Road. As far as this Yankee knows, that’s how it works for all roads. So don’t get lost :)

I love this car - it is a 70’s gas-guzling Lincoln Towncar. Emerald green exterior and emerald green leather interior. It is amazing. It is rotting away in this barn. I have expressed desire for this car for SO LONG but no one in my family ever takes me seriously. I would love this car forever and ever. Its name is Abe, and it’s nickname is the Liberal Limousine because my grandfather (who claimed he was republican, but I have my doubts) drove my family and I around in it and we’re all quite liberal. Such good memories from this car.
