UGH. Driving this silly car is expensive. Today I finally called around trying to find new shoes for the MINI. No one had any tires of that particular size in stock (I guess there isn’t a particularly strong demand for 17″ low-profile runflat tires). So I called around and the first place I called (Scottsdale Goodyear) took my info and said they would call me back with a price quote once the tracked down the tires I wanted.
While I waited on them, I called another place - and they were MUCH more helpful. But before he would order the tires he wanted me to drive over to look at my car for some reason. I’m thinking to myself “duh I have a flat tire, which is why I’m calling you! I don’t want drive on it that much!” but just said “OK I’ll come by this afternoon.”
About twenty minutes later the guy from Scottsdale Goodyear called back and said “There are two of the tires you’re looking for left in the entire world.” I found this hard to believe. He continued “They’re in South Carolina and we can order them for you, but they’re $459 each.” ‘Twas a VERY good thing I was already sitting down. I had to prevent from laughing out loud… “We could sell you some Pirellies and they’re only $350 each.” I told the guy “I’m looking at the tirerack.com website right now, and they list the Dunlop SP SuperSport 9000 DSST tire for $249 each, and they have them in stock - I am also looking at the Pirellies and they’re only $175.” silence “Hello?” “Uhm yeah well you could order them in and we can install them for you..”
Yeah right.
I decided to go with the other place. What’s nice is I took in the print out of the tirerack.com web page and they gave me that price - which was $50 less than they listed it at. But I bought the warranty that comes with it that covers everything but vandalism and normal wear for however many miles. Total price for the new tires will be $501 dollah.

Today was the first day of classes for my spring semester!! So far the classes seem to be nice enough. My Sociology class doesn’t seem like it will be as lame as my Psychology class at JCCC or KU was. My LGTBQ class is going to be fun - I have three other Beta’s in it, plus about five or six girls from Gamma Rho Lambda (the lesbian sorority) are in it - so that is very exciting! The professor for the class seems nice enough, but I’m not sure I can handle her voice.. My other class today was History of Photography. This may be a difficult class but since I am interested in the subject matter it should be ok. Lots of reading and memorization. I’m going to be writing LOTS of papers this semester too, since so far all the classes require at least one paper and some 4 or 5 papers. Tomorrow is Art History 101 - Caves to Cathedrals and Women’s Studies.
This is also my inaugural post with a new plugin that will cross-post the banga-blogga to my xanga account since some people are stuck in that world

Carlos came over this evening to watch the Golden Globes with me and we had a great time. I’m very glad that Brokeback Mountain did as well as it did. It’s sure to piss off all the right people (fundies, conservatives, etc).

Best lines in television:
From the miniseries…
Number Six: Are you alive?
From Resurrection Ship Part 2…
Number Six: (pointing a gun at Admiral Cain) Tell me Admiral, can you roll over? Beg??
Admiral Cain: Frack you!
Number Six: You’re not my type. (pulls trigger)

So the other day we were at Scottsdale Fashion Square and they have a Sanrio store. So I made Steven go stand in front of all the plush Hello Kitties because what’s cuter than an asian tranny surrounded by Hello Kitty dolls?!?!?!

So here it is Sunday evening/Monday morning. My life is so silly right now! I have watched the last episode of Battlestar Galactica on my DVR at least six times now. The more I watch it, the more I love it. I really think that BSG is the second best thing to ever happen to me in my entire life!! I just can’t really say how much I love this show - no other form of entertainment has ever kept me as feverish as BSG has. This last episode is quickly moving up to the #1 episode in my book. Everything about it is perfect. The characters, the sub-plots, the actors - even the score for the music gets me excited! I think the BEST scene in the whole episode was when Dr. Baltar and the Number Six prisoner were aboard the Battlestar Pegasus and Dr. Baltar told her that she needed revenge.. the music there just builds the tension up to something that is completely crazy! Ahh!!! I just can’t say ENOUGH good things about this television show.
I wish everything in my life was this good.
One thing that does have me completely happy is the fact that most of my Sigma Phi Beta brothers, save one, are back in Tempe! Steven stayed at my apartment from Wednesday night to Saturday and we had a great time. The first night we were up late drinking since Jeremy came over to hangout, then Thursday night we were up until something like 3:30/4:00 hanging out at another brothers house. Then Friday we were up at 10am for a meeting with some of the brothers and then we went to the mall after that! After the mall we had some nap time and went to watch HOSTEL (which was a totally gross but highly entertaining movie!) then headed over to House Ventura for drinks. Saturday was a trip to Scottsdale Fashion Square and more shopping then MORE partying at Biltmore Manor until the wee hours of the morning!! I only had one or two drinks so I don’t understand why I’ve had the most devastating headache today
Carlos called me and we had dinner before our meeting this evening - it was good to see him again too!!
We had our first fraternity meeting of the semester tonight and what could have started out as something really crazy and drama filled turned out to be rather anti-climactic - which is totally a good thing! I am so enthusiastic about this semester - I really hope it turns out well! I’m really excited for rush too since it will be my first time as a brother! Wuhahahahahahahaha!
One thing that really sucks right now is I have a flat tire on my car. My car is silly. Since I have the Cooper-S model they had to move the battery into the trunk to make room for the supercharger and inter-cooler. Since the battery is in my trunk, that leaves no room for a spare tire. No spare tire means that the Cooper-S comes stock with run-flat tires. I got the sports package which included 17″ wheels. So combine the need of run-flat tires with the 17″ low-profile rims and that equals to $249 per tire cost for my car!! Both of the front tires are getting to the point they need to be replaced (MINI’s are front wheel drive). SIGH I see myself riding my bicycle a lot in the coming weeks
‘Tis all for now - sorry I haven’t been very interesting as of late. Things have been pretty mild and low key over break - hopefully things spice up a bit in the next few weeks!

One of the better Battlestar Galacticas so far.. I nearly had an anxiety attack halfway through it. I have said it before and I will say it again: Battlestar Galactica is the best show on television right now. I hope they can keep the pace!

I spied Steven sleeping on the sofa this afternoon so I thought I would use it to test WordPress 2.0’s new editors and stuff on my laptop. Seems OK so far.
This picture was taken when he was the quietest he’d been since I picked him up from the airport

I’m so happy! My Beta boys are starting to return! Steven and I have been in the libations and Jeremy came over and hung out for a while too! Jimmy’s in town and I will see him tomorrow! Yay! Carlos is supposed to get here on Saturday and I am picking up Cookie at the airport late Monday night. Like, 10:30/11pm. I asked him if there was any way he could schedule in a flight to be CLOSER to the starting time of the first classes of the semester (school starts Tuesday.. haha).
But YAY!!!
