Phoenix Pride 2006 Pt. 1

KangaBlabba 1 Comment »

So tomorrow is the start of the Phoenix Pride festival.. I have to get up early on a Saturday to march in the parade.. yuck..  Then Saturday and Sunday I’m scheduled to table at Sigma Phi Beta’s booth.  We have a mixer planned with the gay fraternity from University of Arizona, Delta Lambda Phi, Saturday night before we all go get crazy at the official “Pride Party” which I am sure will turn me into a drunken, barely functioning mess.  I hope..

But so as not to disappoint you, my loyal readers, I will have my camera in tow to provide you with illustrated examples of weekend shenanigans.

SCORE!

Doings of the Weekend

Ayyyy! Busy I have been. Thursday was the suck, so I went to some trashy little bar called eLounge for Kiddy night, since it was Lyn’s 21st birthday at midnight. He picked it so that the young’ns could celebrate too. After standing in line for an ungodly amount of time, we finally got in - and I immediately went to the bar to stand in line again. I do not function well in lines. I ordered two drinks just to avoid the line again. Naturally I always get stuck holding someone else’s drink for a spell, which I don’t mind since I take a sip tax out of it. If they don’t return in time, they get an empty cup. Fair’s fair.

A huge number of the guys from the fraternity showed up and it was really awesome to see some of the non-active brothers as well. We drank, we danced, we had a good time. I think the highlight of the night was watching a thoroughly drunk Lyn, a sober but always fun Jeremy and an equally-drunk-as-Lyn Auston all do some kind of strange dance/mating ritual thing. I can’t really explain it, other than to say I needed a moment to myself when all was done. After we left the trashy little bar that I will never return to, we went to IHOP.

FRIDAY - Class about Female Genital Mutilation and then Charlemagne.

Friday evening was our Philanthropy Drag show - which was REALLY cool. Some of the guys looked super hot, some of them looked like super bad drag (my personal favorite) and some of them just looked silly, which is fun. We were supposed to have some sort of “professional” drag queen be our headliner.. but she flaked out.. I’m glad she did, cause we rocked just fine without her. After the show we went to Carlos’s house and got our crunk on.. I think most everyone was on their way home by like 1230 or so.. we were all soo tired. Jimmy and Jeremy passed out on my sofas.

Saturday was our Field day and Fashion show.. field day was hilarious.. watching sorority girls dig through a kiddy pool full of cold wet spaghetti noodles was fun. The three houses that showed up all did fabulous and were most excellent sports! The whole thing only lasted about an hour. Highlights include Tippy throwing spaghetti at Jimmy, Jimmy getting revenge by having a group grab Tippy and throw him in the pool.. hahah.. boys are crazy.

Saturday evening, the super-hot, super-sexy if-I-was-straight-I’d-totally-hit-it Aimee flew in from KC and went to the fashion show. I’m sure she had a great time, and I think she fell in love with Jon when he grabbed her boob. Teehee. After the show we pigged out on Mexican food and a tasty pitcher of margaritas. ¡Muy bueno!

Today I drove Aimee home to Flagstaff. We went to The Blackhound Gallery and I adopted more Devil Duckies (pictures soon!). Then I came home, went to a meeting and spent the last 4 hours making note cards and book marking my History of Photography book for my test on Tuesday.

I am, how they say, le tired.
