Behind!

Thursday: I saw George Takei (a.k.a. Mr. Sulu from the original StarTrek series) talk about why he decided to “come out” officially and start promoting the HRC and its agenda. He also talked about being a Japanese-American in the concentration camps in the US during World War Two. Very interesting stuff - had I not been on campus for 13 hours I could have gone out to have dinner with him later.. Our fraternity co-sponsored the event with HRC so we had the chance to smooze.

Friday: Attempted once again to get answers from the School of Fine Arts about my portfolio status. I went to visit the person specified during his office hours, and of course the man wasn’t there. I’ve yet - at any University or College - to have a professor actually be in their office when I go to visit them for office hours. And they wonder why no one ever goes to them.

Later in the afternoon I went to the ASU surplus shop because Jeremy’s boyfriend (whom I adoringly call “That Man” or “The Other Man” most of the time) saw that “Apple” was mentioned as some of the surplus items. Most of the stuff was covered in a layer of Phoenix Air Grime and not worth purchasing. I got dropped off at school and rode my bike home and started cleaning again.

Friday evening I went to the Scottsdale Center For The Arts to watch Eve Ensler’s “The Good Body” with Emitt. He had won them from a raffle from the ASU Women’s Coalition - and they had a face value of $150!! Included with the tickets was a meet & greet with Ms. Ensler after the performance! It was really nice - I drank free champagne, ate cute little deserts and shook the hand of the woman who wrote “The Vagina Monologues”. I’m quite the little celebrity chaser this week! We sat next to and had drinks with a woman from our LGTBQ class - her name is Wanda. She’s the shit! She is a totally self-identified loud & proud bull-dyke. Hot.

After the play we picked up Carlos G and Cookie and swished off to Amsterdam for some cocktails. Yes you read that correctly - I have been out to the bars THREE WEEKS IN A ROW. I’m feeling QUITE social. I got home about 2am and crashed - after setting my alarm for 7:30am :(

Saturday: 7:30 comes fast. I had to go to a leadership conference as part of my role as assistant facilitator for the ASU LGTBQ Coalition next year and as a member of Sigma Phi Beta. It was the suck. Boring Boring Boring. The most annoying thing is we won’t even be a part of that organization next year. sigh

The rest of the day was just screwing around and not doing a god damn thing. It feels great!

Mom: well, you did say you were going to get a job this summer since you weren’t going to summer school! Me: I know Me: I’d rather go up in the mountains and camp. Mom: well, sometimes we do what we have to do rather than what we want to do - that ’s why I worked in insurance for 18 years instead of being a stay at home mom! Me: yes well your timing is off Me: most are stay at home moms for 18 years before they go to work Me: no wonder im gay Me: i had an absent mother Me: giggles Mom: don’t think I haven’t thought of that! Me: awwww Me: im just teasing you Me: It was all the taco’s you ate when I was in the womb Mom: or the cheeseburgers from Wendy’s Me: Yes Mom: a mother’s guilt is a never-ending phenomenon Me: self guilt, or the guilt she gives her offspring ? Me: .. Me: DUH Me: Your mother’s day present will be Mr. Bigglesworth Me: :) Mom: NO MORE CATS Me: If that’s the case, I’m open to bribery with cash Mom: I’m too open to bribery—-especially with cash - remember - I’m doing floors this spring Me: Of course I already warned you that when you see my good grades you’re going to want to buy me an iMac. Mom: remember - we did the poor starving student thing for years….your have not yet paid your dues for that experience!!!! Me: :O Me: Pfft. Me: I will if Uncle Moneybags cuts me off Me: he never replied to my response email to him about his plans and my “partying” Mom: one must suffer to have great character - and look what great characters your father and I are!!! Me: Yes indeed. You must have suffered an awful lot. Mom: yes we have!!!! Me: which is why you have so many cats now Me: well Me: you don’t have to buy me an iMac Mom: no - that is because your father is crazy Me: but a nice 4×5 view camera sure would make me happy. Mom: think graduation gift Me: Pffft Me: thats like 6 years away Mom: those will be character building years! Me: indeed Me: I suffer for my art

As I suffer, I make sure those around me do as well. I love you mom :)

I’m really disappointed :( I tried to buy tickets to the TOOL concert here in Tempe on 5/6 and the venue was sold out before I got a chance! They went on sale at 10:00 and were sold out within minutes! What’s really insane annoying is that if you visit any of the online ticket vendors, they’re all selling them for highly inflated prices. Original prices were $66.66 and they now go for over $400!!! spit

I think I will wait until they do larger arena shows.

Now for the crazy - a bunch of us had dinner at P.F. Chang’s last night before we went to go see the ASU Lyric Opera Theatre production of Oklahoma! I’d never seen Oklahoma! before but I actually kind of enjoyed it. Everyone is now teasing me about being from Kansas City where they’ve gone about as furr as they can go…

After the play we had cocktails at Emitt’s New House. Neil (one of the boys from ΔΛΦ at UofA) was up so he partied with us. Jeremy showed up with a guy.. who I think his name was Eli or something.. I know it was short and on syllable but I’d had an awful lot of Vodka by then. Anyway, they were planning on going to after-hours at Charlies so last minute Jimmy, Emitt, Cookie, Jon, Neil, Myself and Jeremy and the New Guy all piled into his truck. New Guy drove since he hadn’t been drinking, and all of us but New Guy (who was driving), Jimmy and Jeremy piled into the back of New Guy’s pickup truck. We looked like illegals on our way to go frame a house in the west valley! Alas, there was some annoying off duty cop telling everyone that afterhours at Charlie’s was 21+ now and that the kiddies couldn’t go. So after that we went back to Emmitt’s New House and everyone just kinda dispersed and went home after that.

So the one time I actually decide to go to afterhours, this is what happens.

Hopefully now they will understand why I am a fussy old man and would preferr to stay him in my slippers, smoke my pipe and watch Masterpiece Theatre on PBS.

Yeeow! Ayipioeeay!

Ehehehe
